Professional Background

Prior to founding Ariel, John W. Rogers, Jr. worked for the investment banking firm of William Blair & Company. Over the course of his career, Rogers investment expertise has brought him to the forefront of media attention. He is a regular columnist in Forbes magazine and is frequently quoted in various news and business publications, including USA TODAY, The New York Times, Black Enterprise, BusinessWeek and SmartMoney. In addition, he has made guest appearances on television shows ranging from CNBC to Fox News and has also spoken at many academic institutions.

Education/Awards

Rogers graduated in 1980 with an AB in Economics from Princeton University where he was also Captain of the Varsity Basketball Team.

Business/Community Affiliations

Beyond Ariel, John serves as a corporate board member of three public companies: Aon Corporation, Exelon Corporation and McDonald's Corporation. His civic mindedness is reflected in his roles as a director of the Chicago Urban League, a trustee of the University of Chicago as well as a member of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. He is also a past president of the Board of the Chicago Park District. In 2008, John's commitment to the community was recognized when he was awarded Princeton's highest honor, the Woodrow Wilson Award, bestowed annually on a graduate whose career embodies a commitment to national service. Following the election of President Obama, John served as Chair for the Presidential Inaugural Committee 2009.
