Professional Background

Mr. Haywood is a second-generation insurance professional who learned the business in his father's firm as a manager/producer. He was also a Million Dollar Roundtable agent with the Equitable Life Assurance Society prior to founding Haywood and Fleming Associates. Haywood has over thirty years experience in the industry and has served the profession in a number of capacities. He has been Chairman of the National African-American Insurance Association (NAAIA), President of the Independent Agents of Northwest Indiana, Board Member of the Independent Agents of Indiana, and Board Governor of the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) Society. He has also been active on the Agency Councils of The Hartford, SAFECO and St. Paul Travelers Insurance Companies.

Education/Awards

Mr. Haywood is the 2010 Power Broker and Responsibility Award winner - Risk & Insurance Magazine. Graduate of Indiana University School of Business, 1973 with a B.S. Degree; course work at the USF & G School of Insurance (1996) and the Executive Briefing for Insurance Executives at the University of Wisconsin in 2002. In 2000, Mr. Haywood was named Director of the Year for the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana and was honored by the Governor of Indiana, with the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Business and Entrepreneurship in 2004. In addition, he received the Indiana University Alumni Association President's Award and earned national recognition in the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America's Ultimate Producer Challenge competition, both in 2005. This achievement was followed by making the April 2006 cover story as "Agency of the Month" for Rough Notes magazine - a leading industry publication.
